The Crystal is the 49th level in Dancing Line.
Overview
Synopsis
The line ventures into a mysterious cave in search of the fabled blue crystals. Along the way, it passes through caverns full of ancient cave hieroglyphs, magnificent stalagmites and limestone lakes.
Landscape
This level takes place in a rocky, cavernous environment. The basic structures and ground are light grey, while secondary rock structures and stalagmites are colored a darker shade of grey.
Throughout the beginning of the level, there are pools of translucent water around the path. In addition, some of the walls are etched with cave paintings. The guiding lights that follow the player also illuminate the caves and release a yellow color.
The first hint of crystals appears at 10%: a hole in the ground reveals a lower cavern full of tiny blue gemstones.
After 20%, small blue gemstones accompany the dark grey rocks that surround the line.
Soon after the first crown, the guiding lights and player simultaneously turn red as the line jumps over a large crevice. They then pass a misty red lake. Blue crystals appear more frequently and are increasingly larger in size.
Immediately after the second crown, the line turns a corner, jumps over a large pile of boulders, and lands on a winding dark-grey path. At this time, the line and lights turn the same shade of blue as the crystals around them. The crystals are at their largest and most detailed.
Soundtrack
The soundtrack for The Crystal was composed Łukasz Michalski.
Actually. The soundtrack is “The Crystal Chamber” By Lukasz Michalski but the first 5 seconds is shortened/removed by Cheetah Mobile
Difficulty
- The path and rhythm are relatively simple. The main difficulty is caused by the rocks and crystals that block the player's view of the path.
- In addition, since it is formed by rocks and crystals that are in the player's way, the path is not very obvious to spot at all.
Note for gems
| Gems | Difficulty |
|---|---|
| 2 | Medium ( |
| 5 | Somewhat Hard ( |
| 10 | Hard ( |
Strategy
- Listen carefully to the rhythm of the music. For the most part, follow the main melody closely and avoid relying too much on visuals.
- You can use the guide, which was added in the Racing update, to help see the correct path more clearly.
- You can practice swift consecutive taps in easy levels, such as The Spring.

Trivia
- A guiding light accompanies the line until the end. This is the first level in chronological order to feature a follower (before All About Us, The Christmas Eve and The Christmas Party). In in-game order, it is the second level to do this, after The Alley.
- A paper airplane accompanies the line in All About Us, a star accompanies the line in The Christmas Eve and The Christmas Party, and fairy lights accompany the line in The Alley.
- The soundtrack for this sounds quite similar to The Time, especially the piano accompaniment. It is quite arguable they are "twin soundtracks". They are both in 6/8 time and C minor, and the instruments are very similar.
- The gameplay during the end of the level looks a lot like the end in The Chaos, due to how crystals shoot out of the rocks at the player.
- The Crystal is the first level to have a different font for the percentage markers (Caviar Dreams), matching with the paintings of suns on the walls of some caves.
- The Crystal is the only level in the game that contains the 100% marker.
- The Crystal is the first level with static obstacles at most; The second is The Beach.
- The Stalagmite skin fits well with this level.
- In the video for this level from the composer, the background resembles the real-life Naica mine, where giant crystals are white rather than blue as in the level.
- Many crystals in the level have a tip/vertex surrounded by four faces, similar to an elongated dodecahedron.
Percentage markers
- The 10% marker is on the wall to the left of the path.
- The 20% marker is on the path.
- The 30% marker is on the path.
- The 40% marker is on the wall to the right of the path.
- The 50% marker is on the path (if you have chosen the path without gem) or it is to the left of the path (if you have chosen the path with gem).
- The 60% marker is on the wall above the lava lake to the left of the path.
- The 70% marker is a small text on the path.
- The 80% marker is on a wall to the left of the path.
- The 90% marker is on a wall to the left of the path.
- The 100% marker is on the wall to the right of the path, in front of the pyramid.
